Module 2: Configure FCoE Uplinks and Port Channels

Configure FCoE Uplinks

Configure ports 1/17-18 as FCoE Uplinks on Fabric Interconnect . These ports are connected to the Nexus 5500 SAN switch.


Procedure


  1. In the Navigation pane, click Equipment.
  2. Expand Equipment.
  3. Expand Fabric Interconnects.
  4. Click Fabric Interconnect .
  5. In the work pane, click Physical Ports.
  6. Click Ethernet Ports.
  7. Click the + (plus) to expand the Ethernet Ports.
  8. Shift+click to select ports 17-18. Right-click the selected ports.
  9. Choose Configure as FCoE Uplink Port from the drop-down menu.

    Only one FCoE Uplink is required to be configured before proceeding.

  1. Choose Yes from the pop-up window to complete the configuration.
  2. A pop-up window appears indicating the Uplink Ports were successfully created. Click the OK button to close this window.
  3. Verify the status of the port(s) is Up in the work pane.

Configure a FCoE Port Channel

Configure a FCoE Port-Channel on Fabric Interconnect using FCoE Uplink ports 1/17-18. These ports are connected to the Nexus 5500 SAN switch.


Procedure


  1. In the Navigation pane, click SAN.
  2. Expand SAN.
  3. Expand SAN Cloud.
  4. Expand Fabric .
  5. Right+click FCoE Port Channels.
  6. Choose Create FCoE Port Channel from the drop-down menu.

    Only one FCoE Port Channel is required to be configured before proceeding.

  1. Use the information in the table to complete the fields in the Set FCoE Port Channel Name dialog boxes. Click the Next button.

  1. Shift+click to select Ports 1/17-18.
  2. Click >> to move the ports to the Ports in the Port-Channel work pane element.

  1. Click the Finish button.
  2. A pop-up window appears indicating the FCoE Port Channel was successfully created. Click the OK button to close this window.

  1. Verify the status of the FCoE Port-Channels.
    1. Expand SAN > SAN Cloud > Fabric A node.
    2. Expand the FCoE Port Channels node.
    3. Select the Port-Channels one at a time.
    4. Verify the status is Up in the work pane.

    The status of the FCoE Port-Channel should change to Up in a few minutes.
